First Lady Misy’ Gloria Grandberry

Misy’ Gloria Grandberry is the wife of Eld. Sidney Grandberry, Pastor of Gospel Temple Church of God In Christ. They have three adult children and six grandchildren, two great-grand-children.

She was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in April, 1969 at Gospel Temple Church of God In Christ, under the pastorate of the late Eld. W.G. Gayton. She actively serves as the President of the Women’s Department and Bible class teacher at her local church. She currently serves on the Illinois 7th Congressional District Women Issues Advisor Task Force for Congressman Danny Davis.

Misy’ Grandberry graduated from Harold Washington College on the Dean’s list, receiving her Associate’s Degree in Business. While medicine was her passion, working at Cook County Hospital in August 1994 she furthered her career by completing a course at Malcolm X College where she received her Illinois State License as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). She worked both at Mt. Sinai Hospital as a trauma technician and Cook County Hospital as an Administrative Assistant. She is credited in the American Medical Journal of Gastroenterology for her research assistance in “Practical Techniques in Endoscopic Laser Therapy.” She retired from the medical field in November, 2002.

In January, 2002 her career took a drastic change when she opened the Little Giant’s Child Care Center to expand the ministry of her church. The center was licensed by the City of Chicago and State of Illinois. In July 2005, the center was awarded a Chicago Public School State Pre-K partnership. The center offered a before and after school program and summer camp each year. In June 2006 another partnership was formed with Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago’s Head Start Program. On January 8, 2007, Misy’ Grandberry opened “Invest In Me (IIM) Youth Center to intensify academic and financial development of young people. In September, 2009 Little Giant’s Academy, a private kindergarten was added to the childcare center. In August 2011, She received her Illinois Director’s Credential. In September, 2011 she received the “Director of the Year” award from Easter Seals Head Start Program. In January 2014 after 12 years of operation the Child Care Center and associated entities were unnavigable and services ceased.

Misy’ Grandberry served faithfully as Vice-President of the Pastor and Minister Wives’ Circle of Third Jurisdiction of Illinois from 1996 until 2009. After the transition of the President, Mother Earlean Sanders she was appointed State President by Bishop Sanders.

She served as the first State Chairlady of Third Jurisdiction of Illinois under Bishop Sanders. She worked with the National Youth President, Eld. Drew Sheard with the “Ray of Hope’ project and Vice-President to Dr. Marilyn Cross, of the Young Women’s Christian Council of First Jurisdiction of Illinois leadership of the late Presiding Bishop Louis Henry Ford.
